We have developed a new program we are calling LUPUS SENSE (Support, Educate, Network, Share, Encourage).

An outreach program for lupus patients and their loved ones to learn more about living with lupus, network with other patients, share resources, encourage and help one another.  The schedule for our new program including the educational topic is within the link below.  Our fifth meeting will be held on June 9, 2012.  The meetings are open to patients, family and friends who want to come together around issues related to living with Lupus.  Please come and join us.

LIVING WITH LUPUS
is a life-long challenge, not a life sentence. As with any challenge the support of family, friends and others is essential.

The Lupus Foundation of Genesee Valley NY, Inc. provides patient support, community education, medical referrals, and access to information personalized to the Lupus patient’s particular needs. At any phase of illness from the emergence of symptoms, to diagnosis, and throughout the course of our lives we can all benefit from this kind of support.

The Lupus Foundation of Genesee Valley NY, Inc. is dedicated to improving the quality of life for lupus patients and their loved ones by providing education, support and outreach services, and promoting programs of awareness, advocacy, and research. We understand the isolation and fear lupus patients often feel when they are first diagnosed.  We also recognize the impact the disease can have on other family members.  Our education and support programs are designed to empower patients to actively participate in their own health care to hopefully improve disease outcome and enhance their quality of life.

We are also committed to increasing community awareness and focusing public attention on lupus. We realize that early diagnosis and treatment are vital components in reducing the physical and economic impact of the disease.  Our foundation strongly supports increased research funding that will enable scientists to identify the cause, improve diagnostic measurements, develop safer, more effective treatments, and ultimately, discover the cure to eradicate this devastating disease.
